What the role does not replace

Fractional leadership does not remove the people who know your business best. Your team retains context, judgment, and ownership; the technical leader helps make the options, trade-offs, standards, and sequence easier to see.

The goal is not to create dependence on one outside person. Decisions, documentation, and knowledge remain with your business, and the team should be able to explain and improve the foundation after the engagement ends.

If a need is better served by a one-time audit or a larger project, the scope should say so rather than hiding it inside an ongoing plan.

How the cadence works

The Gold advisory plan is the closest match for sustained CTO-level technical leadership: four 60-minute working sessions each month, the published plan work (Preparation and four focused technical reviews each month, with written findings and recommendations; Your roadmap, decision log, and risk register maintained throughout the month; Agreed hands-on architecture, system setup, or development work across roadmap priorities; Coordination with your internal lead or vendors on agreed priorities and blockers; A monthly leadership brief covering progress, risks, and decisions needed; Follow-through between conversations by email for your team, with a next-business-day initial response), and an initial response within 1 business day.

That cadence is a published plan boundary, not a promise that every request is resolved immediately. For a focused decision or a smaller set of priorities, Bronze or Silver may be a better fit.
